Man-Made Destruction

Man-Made Destruction - The major difference between us, humankind and animal, is that we are endowed with free will so as to enable us to think of what we do before we actualize it whether it is right or wrong whereas animals do what their instincts tell them to do. We have the so called sense of love, humor, and affection. But despite the fact that we are special made doesn’t mean we’re better than animal for I’ve seen human can be just as vile, ruthless, and unsympathetic as beast. Look at what we do to our environment for instance. Every day we see the same grim images of our rain forest being destroyed and yet no one takes the stand to say that it’s wrong and that bad things will come out as the result. Trees in Rain forest have given us more than enough opportunity to build up our society to the point where we are prosperous and have the privilege of being able to enjoy the high living standard no other species ever dream of , but yet now we do nothing and practically give them no chance to grow up to provide other species places to shelter in.

In case you have no clue what Rain Forest is, it is actually one of the most important forests in the world which contributes to provide us with co2 free oxygen which we use to breathe each of every single day. Wikipedia says that humans are clearing the Amazon Rainforest rapidly for farming, lumber, and livestock raising, at an approximate rate of 1.5 acres per second or 50 football fields per minute, which causes the rainforest to become endangered.(75 acres per minute). It’s horrible, can you imagine it? 50 football fields per minutes!!!. How many minutes do we have in a year?  How many years to go till there’s no longer tree in the rain forests? What would we do if the rain forests no longer exist? Can you live without oxygen? There are so many people out there who take them for granted and keep moving on pretending everything is going to be alright. Nothing is going to be alright if per-minute 75 acres of trees in rain forests are being leveled down. Nothing is going to be alright when thousands of small-helpless animals are dying and starving. Nothing is going to be alright when towns are being flooded for the roots of the trees can no longer absorb water. And nothing is going to be alright when we know that us and our next generation will suffer because of what we are doing now.
Someone once said that the power of money is stronger than the power of humanity. Like a saying in English “Money Talks”, if Money talks, there’s nothing we could do to prevent us from doing immoral things. Recently I watched a video of a young Canadian girl named Severn Suzuki who gave a speech at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, also known as the Rio Summit in 1992.  She highlighted some of  the major problems occurring in the world which make a lot of animals becoming extinct, cause a big Ozon layer, Poverty, and War. Here's the link to her speech.

She blew my mind. I was so astounded and lost for words that I started to feel ashamed of myself for not being able to act like her. She was just a 12 year old girl who came to Rio De Janero, raised money by herself and talked in front of the delegates of many countries. If a 12 year old girl understands that what we do is so darn wrong, so why you “old folks” said that you are mature enough to think of the consequences of what you do, still deny and obscure the facts that you are the ones that damage this world. Get real, wake up and wash your damn face and look around. Don’t just keep quiet and pretending that nothing happens. This is our world, your world, and your great great grand children’s world. So start acting like you care while there is still time to help the earth to get back to its pristine condition. - Lang Freak's Original
